As a bit of a (crappy) skater, it was great to get to work with a brand relavant to my interests. Not to mention, the dudes over at iNi are solid bros. We designed this site from the ground up. They had previously used a pretty plain wordpress theme, and we wanted to get away from that. Our main concern was to mix modern & simplistic with handdrawn, illustrative elements from their designer (and a bit of my own pieces, such as the rider sketches). While designing this site, we were also concerned with establishing a brand, so the styles throughout would also be used for various collateral online and in print. When everything was said & done, all of us were pretty stoked on the finished product. iNi's a great brand, and I can't wait to see where it goes.Check out the live site here.

Allison, the owner, was great to work with. She wanted something modern, sophisticated, and high-end, but also including playful and child-like touches. It was also important to keep the color scheme & elements gender neutral, as the site appeals to boys & girls equally. The last big consideration was, as this was simply a home page redesign, to not drastically change anything from the existing interior styles. With the combination of new colors, cleaner & more playful fonts, and custom treatments & illustrations, Bundle's home page really started to shine!Check out the live site here.

It was great to work on a site for two things dear to my heart: Movies & Michigan. I had the pleasure of working with Sanford over at Michigan Motion Picture Studios to develop the design of this site. This thing was created from the ground up, utilizing photography & other assets. The client wanted something modern & cool, while still keeping things sophisticated. Looking at me, you know I'm no bodybuilder. I hit the gym from time to time, but I could never have the kind of commitment these guys have. The bag is aimed at people who eat 6 small meals a day, cook them ahead of time, and need a tool to keep everything fresh & available. The bag literally sells itself, but I did my best to sway those who are on the fence. The site was designed to sell the bag, as well as act as a hub for the social media outlets and content that we also provide. If you're into fitness, I can't recommend 6 Pack enough. They're a great group of passionate & motivated people that love what they do. Hey, even if you're a lazy grump, it still has its uses. Use it as a picnic basket, a lunch box, or just to look sharp. Whatever the use, it won't let you down.

We could pick anything in the world, and I chose The Machine Gunneress, by Hans Bellmer. It is a creepy sculpture with a doll head & wooden armature. I decided to base the forms on the wooden part & created a limited set of parts (wooden beam, black rod, corner bracket, fastener) in which the whole font would be made from. This allows the user to use the font both for text & to create organic sculptures of their own.Cheer Up! Was a success, now what? For my partner (Nick Moore) & I, the choice was clear: We wanted some of these made into fonts! So, we each took a few examples & went from there. Swiss miss is an elegant font based off the “today will be the best day ever” poster & includes three weights (serif, sans serif, and ornament). Mammoth is a furry beast based on the “your hair looks great today” poster & includes one weight. Vega is a slab serif based off words on a few of the posters & is a very condensed font with high ascenders & low x-height. It plays with high & low to create a fun font for many situations. Overall, these three fonts are a nice start to a project that we hope to extend beyond college for both of us.
You can check our Nick’s contributions at his web site.<img src="http://payload45.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3211930/swissmiss_poster_4.png" width="560" height="835" width_o="560" height_o="835" src_o="http://payload45.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3211930/swissmiss_poster_4_o.png" data-mid="18270067" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload45.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3211930/mammoth_poster.png" width="560" height="835" width_o="560" height_o="835" src_o="http://payload45.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3211930/mammoth_poster_o.png" data-mid="18270114" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload45.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3211930/vega_poster2_alt.png" width="560" height="835" width_o="560" height_o="835" src_o="http://payload45.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3211930/vega_poster2_alt_o.png" data-mid="18270119" border="0" align="left"/>

I explored the island while utilizing tools such as a bicycle, notebook, camera, plastic bags & stale bread. Interacting with both the wildlife & the patrons, I decided that Belle Isle was truly an island in both literal & figurative means. It was so vastly different from Detroit in so many ways from the obvious greener scenery to the seemingly nicer people & the overall mood it gives you. Therefore, I designed a poster showcasing how happy it makes you feel, as well as emphasizing how it is a world in itself, despite being a part of a city with a bad reputation.<img src="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/2987044119_d7e1003f98_b.jpg" width="670" height="387" width_o="1024" height_o="592" src_o="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/2987044119_d7e1003f98_b_o.jpg" data-mid="16516221" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/3027722107_28d694e323.jpg" width="500" height="378" width_o="500" height_o="378" src_o="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/3027722107_28d694e323_o.jpg" data-mid="16516222" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/3028725275_f3fc1d0aeb.jpg" width="500" height="333" width_o="500" height_o="333" src_o="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/3028725275_f3fc1d0aeb_o.jpg" data-mid="16516223" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/3022767210_f353c7cf2f.jpeg" width="391" height="500" width_o="391" height_o="500" src_o="http://payload46.cargocollective.com/1/0/13942/3224540/3022767210_f353c7cf2f_o.jpeg" data-mid="16516237" border="0" align="left"/>

I had these wooden medallions lying around from my BRAINDEAD project & decided to put them to good use. It was an exercise in precision & association for me, doing my best to keep the floral border very similar on all of them, as well as the style & associated symbol with each animal. From left to right, a raven with arrows, red panda with bamboo, raccoon with a crescent moon, owl with an all-seeing eye, bear with bees, bat with blood, and wolf with bones. I love the series & I think these all go together quite well.
